Just a quick note that I have mailed all the copies I set aside for SPS members, and subscribers. Even recently departed members will be getting a copy. With luck, the copies will start arriving within a week of this post.

Hi Dan - got mine today and it looks awesome! I like the understated color on the cover. Haven't had a chance to give it a read yet, but will post again when I do. Congrats on a sharp-looking book, - dale.

Thanks. I'd had hoped to have it out before 2009 but alas, the first printer I choose (SIPS Comics) failed me. So I went with Ka-Blam and they came through. I hope you enjoy the story when you get a chance to read it.

I actually did - it reads really smoothly, and while very different in tone (both visually and in spirit) from the Ranter, I did like how you use monologues in both to do a great job of defining your characters. I really get a sense of who they both are. And I especially liked the playful art in this one, too. Very animated figures, great detail in the incidental objects and setting. I also liked the way you designed Sid without a nose - it was a nice touch, and a schnozz would have only distracted from the expressiveness of the eyes and mouth. Very good toning work and use of shadows.
That's the "critique" part of my comments. As a reader I thought it was really funny, and would enjoy spending time with Sid again. In the pages of a comic, not in person, that is...
- dale.

I don't think anyone would want to spend time with Sid in person, but he's a fun character to draw and write for. GJM has a comic in the works titled WTF that I might be able to get a page or two in, if I can find the time and energy. I'll be using Mr. Cellulite in that comic, just because everything he does would cause a reader to exclaim, WTF?

Dan, Thanks for the comic! I always thumb through a comic before reading it, and I was actually laughing as I did it--which is a pretty good indication that I'd like the book. And I did. The art is just wonderful. Great, great job. Matt D.

I'm glad you liked it. It was actually a pretty fun comic to produce. It's rare when I look back on a project once it's completed, but this one, like Mini-Comic Blues that came well before it, keeps be coming back and thinking, that came out pretty good.

Dan, I read PTS last night--great job! I'll write a review this week and probably send it to Comic Related. Their site get a lot of traffic and it'll get wider exposure over there. I'll let you know when they post it. (They usually post my reviews on Fridays, but they run them about two weeks after I send them.)

Thanks for the comic Dan. I meant to get over here sooner and say something about Playing the Sims. I wish I hadn't waited so long to say something about it, because now it's not as fresh in my mind. Anyway, I enjoyed the heck out of it. I liked the way you drew this guy and I would like to see him again. He is repulsive and attractive at the same time. Back in the 90's, before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I had this huge appetite for soda. I was drinking tons of it, so I identified with his appetite for soda and got an extra kick out of seeing him gorge down those sodas. Thanks again for the comic. It was a treat.

You know I've had a few people point out that Sid is like someone they knew, so I'm not surprised anymore to hear that some of his habits are actually shared to some degree by some of the readers out there. Sorry to hear about the Diabetes. I do hope the Dew cravings were not as bad as Sid's. Glad you liked the comic. If I can ever get the time, I'll be doing a very short strip for "WTF", a comic to be published by Jim Main, with Sid Cellulite in it.

I didn't recall mentioning my son in the review! I just assumed it was mine when I saw the post, but didn't actually read it! I can see now CR must've had two reviews for the book, so I'll run mine on MF.com next week.
Popular title!

I just noticed it's by SPS member Matt Levin. I'll keep an eye out for your review when it's posted to MF.
